Bowling With Babies @ The Hive

26 Aug 2019 by Werribee Bowls Club

Our Bowling With Babies Program @ The Hive continues to be the benchmark for Bowls Victoria with an active group of mums now volunteering to run activities for the children each week. This week the children will be doing Fathers Day / Special Person activities. Members are encouraged to support the program by sharing information with family, friends and neighbours as appropriate.

When the Club became involved in this program which is aimed at reducing post natal depression in parents, the children were all babies – now they are active and running around thus the need for activities to engage them. As such, we have created an activity box to amuse the children to allow the parents to get out onto the greens for a bowl subject to weather.

The mums are so enthused that they have had Bowling With Babies @ The Hive T-shirts printed. Most of the mums have taken out social memberships. Last week we picked up two new social members and three new mums attend. All positive

Community Programs such as this are not about getting pennant players @ The Hive. They are about increasing participation in the sport of lawn bowls in the hope that participants may take up bowls either on a casual, social, pennant or barefoot bowls basis or perhaps consider our venue for a future function.

Publicity enhances our Club’s standing from a community, sponsor, WyndhamCity, Bowls Victoria or VicHealth perspective and is imperative to support funding requests.

I would like to acknowledge the wonderful support and commitment that Roszelyn Baker and Rhonda have provided to the program. Both are held in very high regard by all our mums and bubs. Well done!
